SACA Study Assistance Funds and Bursaries help young chefs in training

SACA Study Assistance

Thanks to the support of its generous sponsors, the South African Chefs Association is able to offer structured study assistance funds and bursaries for young trainees studying to become a chef.

The Bill Gallagher Study Assistance Fund bridging fund offers financial support towards the purchase of study aids such as textbooks and resources, uniforms, knives, course related field visits, examination fees, course fee subsidies.

It does not award cash or bursaries, and is a ‘top up’ fund for students who are already enrolled in training programmes to become a chef, who require additional assistance to complete their studies.

The Bryan Montgomery Bursary Fund offers financial support of R30 000 towards the tuition fees of the current year of study at any SACA-approved culinary Institution. The Bryan Montgomery Bursary Fund does not award cash directly to the student; this money goes to the school to contribute towards the tuition fees.

Funds for both the Bill Gallagher Study Assistance Fund and the Bryan Montgomery Study Assistance Fund are allocated to worthy candidates according to a structured application approval system.

Please note that no cash is given to successful recipients of Study Assistance. The Fund will allocate the appropriate amount of money and will purchase the items you have requested assistance with on your behalf.

Applications are reviewed by Fund Selection Panel and successful candidates will be notified in writing within two months of the closing date. The decision of the Selection Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Visit www.saca.co.za for more information.

    hi if possible please advise how my son can apply for a bursuary for 2014 he is in matric now and is very creative and passionate about cooking. i will not be able to afford to pay the tuittion fees. perhaps you can advise where to apply for bursary. i went on the link above could not find the form.
